Free Hoopla Basketball Clinic Lights Up Salem
Hundreds of children gathered on a bright Friday morning on Court Street in Salem, where a free basketball clinic offered a hands‑on introduction to the game.
The event, organized by the Salem Capitals, ran from 10 a.m. to noon and featured drills in dribbling, defensive stance and shooting technique.
Coaching duties were shared by local high school and college players, who guided the youngsters through each skill while emphasizing teamwork and sportsmanship.
A Community‑Driven Initiative
Salem Capitals owner Jason Conrad, who spearheaded the clinic, said the goal was to give kids a fun, accessible way to learn basketball fundamentals.
Conrad highlighted the importance of community support, noting that volunteers from across the city helped make the day possible.
Parents and onlookers cheered as the children practiced layups and defended mock opponents, illustrating the clinic’s energetic atmosphere.
