The project, administered by USA Today Company, assembles a roster of players whose contributions shaped local courts but never reached national prominence. From July 20 through July 23, the public is invited to vote for the single athlete they believe deserves the most recognition.
Among the names on the ballot are standouts such as Austin Hough and Markos Tsegaye, each of whom left a distinct mark on Indiana’s high school scene. Their careers, though not widely chronicled, illustrate the depth of talent that has emerged from the state’s gymnasiums over decades.
Voting is simple: fans can review brief profiles, compare statistics, and select the player they feel most embodies the spirit of Indiana basketball. The outcome will be featured in a special digital edition, ensuring that the chosen hero receives a long‑overdue moment in the spotlight.
