A new scoreboard has been installed at the baseball field in Luverne, Minnesota, as a tribute to longtime supporters Joe and Bea Burns, whose dedication helped shape the town’s baseball culture for decades.
A Legacy in Steel and Numbers
The Burns family’s involvement with local baseball stretches back generations; the grandfather of Tom Burns once built a modest scoreboard for the team, laying a foundation of community pride that the family has continued to nurture.
Tom Burns, who spoke at the presentation, recalled how his father never missed a game in high school or college, embodying the same passion that Joe and Bea displayed throughout their lives.
The scoreboard, now officially named the Joe and Bea Burns Memorial Scoreboard, will be formally presented on Friday, marking a moment of gratitude for a family that has given generously to the sport and the town.
