A Hall of Famer’s New Chapter
The St. Louis Blues announced this week that Sergei Zubov, a 1999 Stanley Cup champion and member of the Hockey Hall of Fame, will serve as an advisor to the team’s hockey operations department.
Zubov, a native of Russia who concluded his NHL playing career in 2010 after twelve seasons with the Dallas Stars, finished his on‑ice tenure with 549 points in 12 seasons and earned a reputation as a steady, offensive‑minded defenseman.
From the KHL to the NHL Front Office
His coaching résumé includes a season as head coach of SKA Saint Petersburg in the KHL during 2015‑16, as well as stints in charge of HK Sochi, Dinamo Riga and the Russian under‑20 national team.
Zubov previously acted as a team consultant for the Blues in 2012‑13 and later served as a senior consultant to hockey operations for the Dallas Stars in 2019, experiences that gave him intimate knowledge of both franchises.
The hiring reflects the Blues’ desire to blend international perspective with championship ambition, leveraging Zubov’s deep understanding of player development, strategic planning and the cultural nuances of the sport.
