A Season of Firsts
The PCM baseball team capped a breakthrough season with a trip to the substate championship game, marking the program’s most wins since 2013 and its first title‑game appearance since 2012.
In the final showdown against Class 2A No. 6 Beckman Catholic, the Mustangs struggled to string together timely hits and were plagued by a series of fielding miscues that allowed the opposition to build an early lead.
The Title Game Unfolds
Beckman Catholic struck first, plating two unearned runs in the second inning and exploding for seven in the third, while PCM’s starter Shay Burns surrendered eight runs before being pulled.
Offensively, PCM managed ten hits but could not capitalize, as Beckman’s pitcher Ian Deutmeyer delivered a complete‑game effort with six strikeouts.
Senior standouts such as Izaac Bagby and Jensson Hood each collected three hits in their last prep outings, with Bagby finishing the year as the team’s leader in RBIs and total bases.
Younger players like Landon Siedlecki, who opened the second inning with a double, and reliever Bode Blackburn showed flashes of potential, offering a glimpse of a promising future despite the loss.
Looking Ahead
The Mustangs will graduate seven seniors, but the experience gained in this high‑stakes game could inspire the next wave of talent as they look to build on a historic campaign.
