A Split Decision in the Pony Hills
The Pony Hills amateur baseball league delivered a doubleheader on Sunday that saw the Winner Demons and the Burke Bombers trade victories, each pulling off a decisive win in front of local fans.
Winner opened the series with a 17‑7 triumph, a burst that was fueled by five errors from Burke and a 15‑hit assault at the plate. Evan Farner earned the win, scattering 12 hits while striking out eight, and Casey Heenan went a perfect 4‑for‑4, driving in five runs.
The Bombers answered in the nightcap, rolling past Winner 12‑2 by exploding for eight runs in the opening two innings and capitalizing on five miscues by the Demons. JJ Farner was the star, delivering a complete‑game four‑hitter on the mound and adding a 3‑for‑4 effort at the plate.
Both clubs now turn their attention to upcoming matchups; Winner is slated to meet the Wessington Springs Owls on Tuesday, while Burke will await its district playoff game scheduled for Saturday.
