The University of Utah’s football program will open its 2026 campaign with an unusual trio of non‑conference home games at Rice‑Eccles Stadium, a situation that has not occurred in more than a decade.
The agreement, valued at $1.45 million, allocates a portion of the purse to each visiting school while also providing complimentary and purchasable tickets for fans attending the contests.
Idaho will receive $600,000 and a package of tickets for the September 3 meeting, while Arkansas is slated to get $250,000 plus similar ticket benefits for the September 12 contest.
Utah State will collect $600,000 and ticket allocations for the September 19 game, completing the three‑game home stretch that marks a rare departure from the team’s typical schedule.
Arkansas athletic director Hunter Yurachek has voiced unease about the late kickoff time scheduled for the Arkansas‑Utah matchup, warning that it could disrupt player rest and recovery.
The late start reflects a broader scheduling experiment, and it will be the first time the two programs meet on the gridiron, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the series.
Looking ahead, Utah’s non‑conference slate also includes games against Miami, Wyoming, Southern Utah, Utah Tech, Nevada, Wisconsin, Weber State, UCLA and LSU, underscoring the ambitious road ahead for the Utes.
