Eau Claire North High School has named Michael Cooper its new head coach of the boys basketball program, appointing the veteran mentor to replace Logan Horn, who stepped down after two seasons.
Cooper arrives with a résumé that blends collegiate assistance and camp leadership. Since 2022 he has served as an assistant coach at the University of Wisconsin‑Milwaukee, while also directing JBL Basketball camps, a role that has sharpened his player‑development skills.
The coach said the decision to return to the Chippewa Valley was driven by a desire to lead a program himself and by personal connections that tie his family to the region.
In his first year, Cooper intends to raise the program’s standards and compete for victories, noting that the senior class is eager to succeed and unwilling to wait for future promise.
