A Rink‑Side Tribute
Former Komets forward Anthony Petruzzelli organized a charity roller hockey tournament at the PSM Icehouse in Fort Wayne, drawing teams from across the region to support a cause close to his heart.
The event benefits Remember Roman, a nonprofit founded by Delaney Baumann after the stillbirth of her daughter Rowan in August 2017. Baumann’s organization provides aid to families navigating the emotional and financial aftermath of losing a child.
Petruzzelli’s involvement stems from a personal tragedy: he and his wife lost their son Rocco shortly after birth. The memory of Rocco, coupled with the support they received from Remember Roman, motivated the forward to host the fundraiser.
Participants and spectators alike praised the community’s response, noting how the hockey world has rallied around Baumann’s mission. Organizers say the tournament has set a benchmark for future charitable initiatives within the sport.
Looking Ahead to 2027
Baumann expressed optimism that the tournament could become an annual fixture, with plans to bring it back in 2027. The hope is to expand the reach and continue raising vital funds for families in need.
