JHX Hoops emerged victorious in a tightly contested best-of-three series, defeating Purple Reign 62-55 and securing a place in the single-elimination TBT quarterfinals.
The win was anchored by Zeke Mayo, who delivered a game-high 25 points, including 18 after halftime, and sank the go-ahead free throws that shifted momentum. Jacob Hanna contributed a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Frank Mason III added nine points to the effort.
The Final Surge
Despite shooting just 30 percent from the field, JHX Hoops outlasted a Purple Reign team that managed only 31.6 percent overall and 14.8 percent from three-point range. Early in the contest, Purple Reign surged ahead 16-4, but the Kansas squad narrowed the gap and seized a 27-26 lead in the third quarter before extending the advantage to 50-40 with 7:03 remaining.
A decisive 13-of-the-last-15 run capped the comeback, as JHX Hoops scored 13 of the final 15 points to seal the victory and set up a clash with the defending champion Aftershocks in the quarterfinals.
