Maverick Chapman, a senior standout from Chippewa Hills, capped his high school career with a memorable final baseball season before turning his focus to basketball at Kuyper College.
Honors and Accolades
During that season he earned first‑team Central State Activities Association Red Division honors, while also being selected to the All‑District and All‑Region first teams as a first baseman.
His coach, Ben Wright, highlighted Chapman’s leadership and the way his presence lifted the entire squad, noting the team’s mix of freshmen to seniors.
Overcoming Injury
Chapman’s senior year marked his first full varsity campaign after elbow surgery the previous summer, a hurdle he cleared with a .433 batting average, 40 runs scored, and 24 hits that included 12 doubles, six triples, 37 RBIs and 19 stolen bases.
The statistics underscore not only his offensive firepower but also his durability and speed on the bases.
Basketball Transition
On the hardwood, Chapman has already proven himself a key contributor, earning first‑team All‑CSAA Red Division honors for two straight seasons and posting averages of 14.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.2 steals per game.
He shoots 45.9% from two‑point range and 25.4% from three‑point range, while maintaining Academic All‑State status, reflecting a balance of athletics and scholarship.
Beyond the numbers, Chapman enjoys the first‑base position because it lets him be involved in nearly every play, a role he describes as the heartbeat of the team.
As he prepares to join Kuyper College, the athlete carries with him a legacy of resilience, academic excellence, and a commitment to contribute across both sports.
