Coach Bill Cherpak, who has guided the program for several seasons, views the move as both a test and an opportunity, predicting that the team could rebound to Class 4A by 2028 if the current trajectory holds.
A New Classification Brings Fresh Challenges
The transition brings a deeper, more competitive roster, with the Jaguars facing teams that have traditionally dominated the higher classification, including rivals from the Allegheny Six Conference such as Bethel Park and Peters Township.
At the heart of the squad is senior standout Tyler Eber, who last season amassed 1,885 rushing yards and 31 touchdowns, earning a spot on the TribLive HSSN Terrific 25 and a place on the all‑conference team.
Eber will anchor both offense and defense, but he will not be alone; the Jaguars return five starters on each side of the ball, including junior quarterback Harrison Kolling and senior receiver Kane Eggerton, who led the team in receptions and touchdowns a year ago.
