The incident unfolded on the final lap when Wallace found himself in a three‑wide battle with Ryan Blaney and Carson Hocevar, and he briefly crossed the double yellow line while attempting to gain position.
A Lesson in Accountability
NASCAR ruled that the moment he gained track position below the yellow line constituted a violation, leading to a post‑race penalty that dropped him to 29th place, a result Wallace accepted as a learning opportunity.
Wallace said the episode helped him understand how officials interpret the rule and that he took responsibility for putting the series in a difficult spot, especially after realizing that the No. 54 car’s push at the line could have altered the outcome.
He also noted that had the No. 54 not pushed him at the line, he might have finished third, but the rule was clear once track position was gained illegally.
