The Belgian Red Lions have secured their spot at the 2026 FIH Hockey World Cup, a tournament that will unfold across two nations from August 15th to 30th.
Coach Shane McLeod revealed the 20‑player roster this week, a blend of seasoned internationals and emerging prospects that he described as a balanced squad ready to compete at the highest level.
Among the selected goalkeepers are Vincent Vanasch and Simon Vandenbroucke, while the defensive line features Lucas Balthazar, Nicolas De Kerpel, Alexander Hendrickx, Hugo Labouchere, Arthur Van Doren, Maxime Van Oost and Tommy Willems.
Midfield duties will be carried by Arthur De Sloover, Guillaume Hellin, Jack Vloeberghs, Arno Van Dessel and Victor Wegnez, providing both creativity and defensive solidity.
The attacking front boasts Tom Boon, Thomas Crols, Roman Duvekot, Victor Foubert, Nelson Onana and Thibeau Stockbroekx, each bringing a distinct edge to the forward line.
A blend of experience and youth
McLeod emphasized that the squad marries veteran poise with the dynamism of younger talent, a strategy he believes will be crucial as the competition progresses across venues in Wavre, Belgium, and Amstelveen, Netherlands.
The women's side, known as the Red Panthers, will have its roster announced later in July, promising another wave of talent to follow the men's campaign.
