Maddi Desiano, a standout defender from UCLA, has taken on a new role as an assistant coach with the Pepperdine Waves women's soccer program.

A native of San Clemente, California, Desiano brings a blend of championship pedigree and professional exposure that could reshape the team's tactical outlook.
During her collegiate career, Desiano helped the Bruins capture their second national championship in program history and contributed to two Pac‑12 title runs. She logged every minute of the title‑game victory and found the net in two high‑stakes matches, including a semifinal winner against Alabama and the decisive goal in a Round of 16 clash with Northwestern.
Since graduating in 2022, she has tested herself abroad, playing for the NWSL’s Houston Dash, the Danish side Odense Boldklub, and the USL‑League outfit Spokane Zephyr FC, gaining a global perspective that she now hopes to share with the Waves.
Head coach Tim Ward expressed enthusiasm about the hire, noting Desiano’s “unique experiences and character” as qualities that align perfectly with Pepperdine’s ambitions.
