During the annual Scoop the Loop car festival in Waukegan, Illinois, 26‑year‑old Sirbruntae M. Moses was taken into custody after an on‑site officer identified him as a suspect with an active warrant.
Escalating violence at a community event
According to police reports, Moses attempted to evade the officer, sprinting toward him and striking the officer, causing the officer to fall to the ground.
He was subsequently charged with aggravated battery of a peace officer and resisting arrest, with the warrant tied to a domestic battery case in Lake County.
Authorities noted that Moses carries a lengthy criminal record, having previously been convicted of firearm possession, robbery and battery.
He remains held at the Lake County Jail and is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on August 5.
