A Festival of Global Soccer
Montpelier High School will host the 14th annual World Soccer Festival on August 22, inviting families and friends to experience a day of soccer that reflects the world’s many cultures.
Team registration remains open until August 4, giving youngsters in grades two through eight the chance to form squads that represent any nation they choose, complete with that country’s flag and colors.
The schedule runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring 3v3 matches on the school fields, an adult international exhibition game between the Capital Soccer Men’s team and the Central America Stars, and a vibrant parade that kicks off the festivities.
Food, Art, and Music
Local and international food vendors will line the grounds, offering flavors from around the globe, while art stations provide creative outlets for children of all ages.
Live performances will include Central Vermont’s Shidaa Project and Burlington’s Afro‑Brazilian percussion ensemble Sambatucada, adding rhythmic energy to the celebration.
Beyond the games, the festival aims to highlight soccer’s power to unite diverse communities, echoing the spirit of the World Cup that will soon take place on American soil.
