The 2026 MLB Draft wrapped up this past weekend, delivering a wave of anticipation as teams announced their final picks.
Draft Highlights
Seven players who previously suited up for the Ducks were among those selected, each signing a professional contract with an MLB franchise.
Ryan Cooney was chosen by the Toronto Blue Jays in the third round at pick 103, while Cal Scolari followed in the fifth round at pick 137 for the Chicago White Sox. Maddox Molony landed with the Detroit Tigers in the sixth round (pick 187), and Miles Gosztola was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the eighth round (pick 253). Devin Bell also joined the Dodgers a couple of rounds later at pick 313.
The Dodgers added another piece of the Ducks’ pipeline when Drew Smith was drafted in the fifteenth round (pick 448) by the San Francisco Giants, and Jack Brooks capped the weekend for the Washington Nationals in the nineteenth round (pick 556).
These selections bring the total number of Ducks alumni drafted in the past three years to nine, adding to four picks from the previous draft and five from 2024, a testament to the program’s growing impact on professional baseball.
