Championship Recap
Wolfe County emerged victorious in a tightly contested 55th District Championship, edging out Breathitt County 3-2 in a game that swung back and forth until the final outs. The Wolves capitalized on early momentum, setting the tone with timely hits that kept the pressure on their opponents.
The offense ignited in the first inning when Camden Oliver delivered an RBI double, driving in the first run. Landon McWhorter followed with an RBI single, extending the lead. Max Whisman later scored McWhorter with a clutch hit in the third inning, adding another run to Wolfe County’s tally.
Season Series and Records
Wolfe County entered the championship with a 3-1 record against Breathitt County this season and finished the regular slate with a 21-10 overall record. Breathitt County, meanwhile, posted a 26-12 record and managed to answer back with an RBI double from Caige Ellis in the second inning and another RBI in the sixth, but the Wolves’ defense held firm.
Looking Ahead to the Region Tournament
Both squads now turn their attention to the 14th Region Tournament, where they will represent their district on a larger stage.
