Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association Announces 40th All-Academic Teams
The Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association (IHSBCA) has revealed its 40th All‑Academic Teams, honoring senior players who exemplify excellence in the classroom, on the field, and in their communities. Spotlight on Atlantic’s Sawyer Terrell
Sawyer Terrell of Atlantic earned a Second Team Academic All‑State nod after a standout season in which he batted .309, logged five doubles, drove in nine runs, stole 16 bases and scored 20 runs. His blend of speed, contact hitting and clutch production helped the Trojans remain competitive throughout the year.
Beyond his on‑field contributions, Terrell is noted for his leadership in school initiatives and community service, traits that the IHSBCA panel cited as core to the All‑Academic distinction.
First Team Honorees from Coon Rapids Bayard and Treynor
Cal Heydon from Coon Rapids Bayard and Ethan Hill from Treynor were both selected to the First Team Academic All‑State, reflecting their superior athletic metrics and academic standing. Heydon’s season featured a strong batting average and solid defensive work, while Hill combined power at the plate with a disciplined approach at the plate and on the basepaths.
