Janicke's entry into professional hockey is rooted in a family tradition that spans generations. His brother, Justin Janicke, shared the ice with him at the United States Hockey League’s Central Illinois Flying Aces and later earned a draft selection by the Seattle Kraken in 2021. Their father, Curtis Janicke, distinguished himself at the University of Notre Dame, amassing 144 points in 125 games over four collegiate seasons.
Before joining the Swamp Rabbits, Janicke honed his skills with the Fort Wayne Komets, where he posted a career‑high 28 points in 17 games during his rookie campaign and later contributed 17 goals and 28 assists across 94 ECHL appearances for the Komets and other affiliates. He also logged 15 games in the AHL with the Calgary Wranglers, registering a single assist.
