Michael Fauerbach, who has led the Castle High School girls soccer program for three seasons, announced his resignation on July 25, citing a desire to devote more time to his three young children.
The decision comes just three weeks before the 2026 campaign is set to start, with official practices in Indiana scheduled to begin on August 3.
Fauerbach will remain a teacher at Castle High School, but will no longer be at the helm of the varsity soccer team.
A Legacy of Success
During his tenure the Knights compiled a record of 41‑12‑3, captured two sectional championships and two conference titles, and advanced to the regional final in each of his first two years.
The school has not yet named an interim coach; assistant coaches will assume responsibilities in the meantime.
Despite graduating several key players, the program is projected to remain competitive in the Southern Indiana Athletic Conference, where it holds the second‑most conference titles in league history.
Looking Ahead to 2026
Coaches and players are already preparing for the upcoming season, focusing on developing talent and maintaining the high standards set by Fauerbach.
The Knights are currently ranked third in SIAC history with 15 sectional titles, a testament to the program’s enduring legacy.
Community members and players alike have expressed gratitude for Fauerbach’s dedication and the lasting impact he has made on the program.
