Ayden Eberhardt, a former Loveland High School standout, is in the midst of his fourth year in the Canadian Football League, currently catching passes for the Ottawa Redblacks. Six games into the season he has amassed nearly 500 receiving yards, a figure that hints at a potential resurgence for a team that sits winless at 0‑6.
A Comeback Fueled by Optimism
His journey to this point has been marked by adversity. A torn ACL and meniscus in 2021 was followed by a diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes just a month later. The dual setbacks could have ended his career, but Eberhardt’s determination saw him rehabilitate, earn a scholarship at the University of Wyoming, and eventually sign with the BC Lions before joining the Redblacks after his contract expired.
Despite the Redblacks’ slow start, Eberhardt remains upbeat, saying he has no regrets about moving to the CFL and that the league’s pace keeps him excited. He believes the club still has ample time to flip the script and finish the season on a high note.
