A New Chapter Abroad
Amaya Battle, the former University of Minnesota basketball standout, has agreed to a contract with Logiman Broni, an Italian professional women’s team based in Broni, Lombardy. The move marks the first step of her international career and places her in the Serie A1, the top tier of Italian women’s basketball.
Battle’s journey to this moment began in Minnesota, where she dominated high school courts at Hopkins High School, capturing two state championships and earning the 2022 Minnesota State High School League Ms. Basketball honor. At the University of Minnesota she amassed 1,533 points, 776 rebounds and 599 assists, ranking tenth in program history for scoring and rebounds and surpassing legend Lindsay Whalen on the all‑time assists list.
Her collegiate achievements earned her a spot at the Minnesota Lynx training camp, where she competed alongside 20 other prospects for a roster or developmental position. Though she was eventually waived, the experience opened the door to overseas opportunities, and Battle embraced the chance to continue developing abroad.
The 2026‑27 Serie A1 season runs from October through April, offering Battle a full schedule in a league where many WNBA players find a home during the offseason. By joining Logiman Broni, she will train and compete alongside seasoned professionals, a setting she believes will sharpen her game and keep her connected to the sport’s highest levels.
Beyond the court, Battle reflects on her role as a model for young players in Minnesota, hoping her path inspires the next generation to pursue dreams that span continents. With each game in Italy, she sees another chance to refine her skills, earn visibility and keep the possibility of a future WNBA return alive.
