A Recruit's Final Countdown
Jaxson Davis, a four-star point guard from the Chicago area, has trimmed his list of suitors to six programs as he edges closer to a college decision.
The Chicago Sun-Times has ranked him the 35th best player nationally and the tenth-best at his position, underscoring the buzz surrounding his recruitment.
Davis, who recently transferred from Warren Township High School to Monarch Academy in Kansas City, earned the 2026 Chicago Sun-Times Player of the Year honor after a junior season that saw him average 23.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 3.5 steals per game.
His official visits are set to begin on September 19, when he will step onto the Iowa Hawkeyes’ campus, and continue on October 1 with a trip to Michigan State.
While Iowa and Michigan State are among his top choices, Davis is also weighing Ohio State, Minnesota, Creighton and Marquette, each of which brings a distinct set of academic and athletic prospects.
Ranking services such as Rivals and 247Sports have highlighted his ascent, placing him in the national conversation and fueling interest from coaches across the Big Ten and beyond.
The upcoming visits will give Davis a firsthand look at each program’s environment, coaching staff and facilities, all of which could prove decisive in his final selection.
For the Iowa Hawkeyes, securing Davis would not only bolster their backcourt but also reinforce a recruiting pipeline that has shown steady growth in recent years.
