Virginia Tech’s football squad has turned its off‑season training into a hands‑on service project, constructing wooden beds for children who lack a safe place to sleep. The effort, coordinated with the nonprofit Sleep in Heavenly Peace, has already resulted in more than one hundred custom beds being handed out across the Roanoke region.

Players gather in the university’s workshop, cut, sand and finish each frame, then load the finished pieces onto trucks for delivery to families identified by the charity.
