Davion Thompson, a 6‑foot‑3 guard from the 2027 class, announced that he will reclassify and join the Arkansas Razorbacks for the upcoming season, a move that solidifies a backcourt that has been reshaped by both fresh talent and experienced returnees.
A Top‑21 Prospect Returns Home
Ranked No. 21 overall nationally, Thompson chose Arkansas over a final list that included Michigan, Vanderbilt and Baylor, sealing his decision on June 10. The commitment marks a significant addition for a program that has been active in both the high school and transfer markets.
Thompson spent his recent development years at Link Academy in Branson, Missouri, where his game matured into a more balanced skill set. Coaches there noted a jump in efficiency, with his field‑goal percentage climbing to 45.5% and his three‑point shooting reaching 51.9%.
Sam Kayser, a recruiting analyst for League Ready, highlighted Thompson’s ability to stretch the floor, stating that his jump shot creates spacing that benefits the entire offensive set.
The Razorbacks’ backcourt now features a natural point guard in Thompson, complementing returning wing Isaiah Sealy, who will miss time after knee surgery, and redshirt freshman forward Paulo Semedo, who is set to return.
Portal Reinforcements
In addition to Thompson, Arkansas secured two portal commitments: Furman center Cooper Bowser and Georgia transfer Jeremiah Wilkinson, both of whom bring interior experience and depth.
The incoming freshman class also includes five other highly rated prospects — 5‑star Jordan Smith, Abdou Toure, Miikka Muurinen, JJ Andrews and former 4‑star Maper Maker — who will join the roster alongside Semedo.
The team will also see departures, as Meleek Thomas, Trevon Brazile and Darius Acuff were each selected in the recent NBA Draft, while Nick Pringle, who had exhausted his eligibility, will not return, and players such as Karter Knox, D.J. Wagner, Karim Rtail, Jaden Karuletwa, Elmir Dzafic and Malique Ewin have entered the transfer portal, with Knox committing to Louisville, Wagner to Maryland and Dzafic to Connecticut.
