A New Chapter for the Blue Devils
Callie McCarron, a midfielder from Raleigh, North Carolina, will don the blue and white of Duke University beginning in the 2026 season, a move that has been eagerly anticipated by the program’s staff and fans alike.
Head coach Pam Bustin highlighted the recruit’s work ethic, competitiveness and reliability, noting that McCarron’s reputation for showing up when it matters most aligns perfectly with the team’s culture.
A Record of Accolades
The recruit arrives with an impressive résumé that includes being named a top‑100 player in the Class of 2026 by Max Field Hockey, as well as earning TISAC Player of the Year and NCISAA All‑State First Team honors during her tenure at Cary Academy.
Beyond field hockey, McCarron has excelled in track and field and soccer, demonstrating a rare versatility that coaches value for its impact on overall athleticism and team dynamics.
Her competitive résumé also features appearances at the U‑19 Region 8S RCC Championships, the U‑16 National Club Championship, and the 2024 USA Field Hockey U‑18 Selection Camp, experiences that have tested her against some of the nation’s best talent.
Academically, she has maintained a place on the Headmaster’s Academic and Effort Honor Roll for all four years at Cary Academy, underscoring a commitment to scholarship that mirrors the university’s emphasis on balanced development.
McCarron’s involvement with Bull City Field Hockey and her participation in the USA Field Hockey NEXUS Championship since 2021 further illustrate her deep roots in the sport’s growing domestic landscape.
