Local Teams Vie for State Spot
The Section 6 tournament opens on Saturday, gathering the region’s top Little League programs in a compact round‑robin that will decide which squad earns the right to represent Section 6 on the state stage.
All matches are slated for 6 p.m., creating a steady rhythm of competition that keeps fans engaged throughout the weekend. The schedule is designed to give each team multiple chances to prove its mettle before the final showdown.
District Triumphs
Tamaqua secured its place by defeating Jim Thorpe and capturing the District 18 championship, while Blue Mountain followed suit by overcoming Ashland to win the District 24 title. Both clubs entered the sectional round with a strong regional pedigree.
Lehigh, the District 20 champion, also earned a spot in the tournament, setting up a series of matchups that will test the depth of each team’s roster and strategy.
Round‑Robin Showdown
Saturday’s opening game pits Tamaqua against Lehigh, a clash that could determine early momentum. On Sunday, Lehigh will face Blue Mountain, promising another tightly contested encounter.
Monday’s final round‑robin game will see the remaining teams complete their schedules, after which the top two finishers will meet on Tuesday for the tournament’s championship.
Beyond the Section
The victorious team will advance to the Pennsylvania State Tournament in Pittston, slated to run from July 27 through August 2. From there, the path leads to the Mid‑Atlantic Tournament, scheduled for August 9‑14 and featuring clubs from Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C.
Should a Pennsylvania squad progress further, the ultimate stage awaits in Williamsport, where the Little League World Series will commence on August 19, showcasing the best young talent from around the globe.
