A schedule that tests depth
Wisconsin’s 2026‑27 season will consist of up to 32 games, with 18 of those falling within the Big Ten conference schedule. The nonconference portion opens with a much‑anticipated clash against Marquette at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee on December 5, followed by a neutral‑site showdown with Auburn at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on December 19 and a meeting with Villanova at a venue close to the Wildcats’ campus.
The Badgers will also travel to face a series of Big Ten opponents on the road, including Maryland, Michigan State, Northwestern, Ohio State, Rutgers, UCLA and USC, while hosting Indiana, Michigan, Nebraska, Oregon, Penn State, Purdue and Washington at the Kohl Center. This distribution reflects the conference’s effort to balance competitive balance and travel demands.
Rivalry games with Minnesota, Iowa and Illinois will be played on both sides of the state line. Iowa arrives after an Elite Eight run, while Illinois, fresh off a Final Four appearance, brings a roster that could contend nationally in 2026‑27. Both programs are expected to challenge Wisconsin’s interior and perimeter defenses throughout the conference season.
The nonconference slate also includes a rematch with Villanova, a team that reached the NCAA Tournament in Kevin Willard’s first season as head coach. Marquette, meanwhile, retained several key players while leveraging the transfer portal, suggesting a competitive edge for the Badgers’ first meeting of the year.
Wisconsin will avoid traditional powerhouses such as Assembly Hall, Pinnacle Bank Arena and Mackey Arena, venues that have historically presented significant challenges. Instead, the Badgers will focus on maximizing home‑court advantage at the Kohl Center and exploiting favorable matchups to secure the necessary Quad 1 wins for NCAA tournament seeding.
