Dominick Goodman was appointed head coach of the Walnut Hills High School football team in January, bringing a deep personal connection to the program and a clear vision for its future.
A Vision for the Future
Goodman’s football journey began at Colerain High School, where he helped the Eagles capture the 2004 Division I state championship and earned MVP honors in the title game. At the University of Cincinnati, he became one of the program’s all‑time greats, ranking second in career receptions with 204 and third in single‑season receptions with 84.
For the past seven years he has honed his coaching skills as an offensive coordinator at several Ohio high schools, including stints at Colerain, Northwest, Princeton, New Miami and Talawanda. His appointment comes at a critical moment, as Walnut Hills has managed only three wins in the last four seasons and is eager for a turnaround.
Central to Goodman’s philosophy is a commitment to work ethic and holistic development. He stresses that success on the field must be matched by growth off it, positioning himself as a mentor as much as a tactician.
Senior quarterback Joshua Thornton has already noticed a shift in morale. “Coach Goodman’s guidance feels steady and purposeful,” Thornton said, adding that the new leadership has sparked optimism across the locker room.
The team has adopted the mantra ‘One Team. One Goal.’ as a rallying cry, reflecting Goodman’s emphasis on unity and shared purpose as they prepare for the upcoming season.
