A Tradition of Excellence
The Greater Middlesex Conference Baseball Coaches Association recently unveiled its 2026 senior All‑Academic team, a roster that celebrates one exceptional student‑athlete from each of the conference’s 26 member schools. The honor reflects a blend of athletic prowess, academic dedication, and community leadership, highlighting the conference’s commitment to developing well‑rounded competitors.
Honors Ahead of the Tournament
The awardees will be recognized during the Jim Muldowney GMC Tournament title game, scheduled for 2 p.m. at Rutgers University’s Bainton Field in Piscataway. The championship matchup will pit Old Bridge against Monroe, teams that have each tasted recent success in the league.
Among the honorees are Gatik Bhardwaj, Dylan Chiera, Michael Dow, Jaidon Coello, Stephen Zappola, Robert Roma, Melissa Evans, Grant Lorentzen, Sholak Patel, Sean Dereka, Dalton Michael, Tyler Bacon, Jairo Marte Reyes, Mark Fultz, Harold Denney III, Yerandy Guzman, Kevin Kovach, Aiden Cruz, Joseph Foreman, Peyton Lynch, Aidan Kaplan, Brendan Lell, Michael Palumbo, Kris Almanzar, Harrison Eng and Gavin Slicner. Their stories illustrate the diverse pathways to success, from rigorous coursework to leadership in extracurricular activities.
Beyond the individual accolades, the tournament promises a competitive showdown. Old Bridge captured the 2023 title, while Monroe’s most recent championship came in 2015, setting the stage for a nostalgic clash that will also serve as a platform to celebrate academic achievement.
