The Da Beauty League, a unique mixed‑gender hockey circuit, has reached its tenth and final season, concluding a decade that blended women’s professional and collegiate talent with NHL‑connected men’s teams in Edina, Minnesota.
A decade of competition
The rosters have been packed with standout players from the Premier Women’s Hockey Federation and NCAA programs, featuring names such as Maggie Flaherty, Liz Schepers, Abby Boreen, Hannah Murphy, Madison Bizal, Paetyn Levis, Emily Zumwinkle, Jane Kuehl, Taylor Otrema, Lauren Zawoyski and Olympic gold medalist Britta Curl‑Salemme.
Men’s side and opening night
Four men’s squads, loaded with NHL prospects, joined the fray, and the inaugural game saw Team Tradition Sports Management defeat Team Tradition Wealth Management 10‑7. The victory highlighted the league’s competitive spirit and the depth of talent across both genders.
Beyond the on‑ice action, the league has served as a showcase for emerging stars, including recent PWHL draft picks Maeve Kelly and Katelyn Roberts, German Olympian Nina Christof, and Minnesota State defender Kianna Roeske, who will continue their professional journeys in Sweden with MoDo.
Looking ahead
While this season marks the end of the Da Beauty League’s run, its legacy will linger in the pathways it created for women and men alike, offering a blueprint for future mixed‑gender competitions and reinforcing Minnesota’s rich hockey heritage.
