A Reunion with Familiar Leadership
Trevor Janicke has officially signed with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits for the 2026‑27 season, bringing a decade of professional experience to the ECHL franchise. The forward’s addition is framed as a strategic move to bolster the team’s depth as it aims for a stronger playoff run.
Janicke’s career includes notable stints with the Fort Wayne Komets and the Rapid City Rush, where in his second professional season he recorded 11 goals and 17 assists. He also contributed an assist in 17 Kelly Cup Playoff games, showcasing his ability to perform under pressure.
The signing marks a full‑circle moment for Janicke and head coach/GM Chad Costello. Costello had served as Janicke’s interim coach during his rookie year, and the two now reunite with a shared vision of competitive depth and youthful development.
Beyond the rink, Janicke’s family ties run deep. His brother Justin was drafted by the Seattle Kraken in 2021, while his father Curtis, a former University of Notre Dame player, amassed 144 points in 125 games. These connections underscore a legacy of athletic achievement that shapes Trevor’s professional outlook.
Janicke’s résumé also features a silver medal from the 2018 U‑18 World Junior Championships and a collegiate career at the University of Notre Dame, where he tallied 85 points in 175 games. He captained the Central Illinois Flying Aces and spent two seasons in the US National Team Development Program, experiences that have honed his leadership qualities.
During the 2024‑25 campaign, Janicke posted 25 points in 30 games, a performance that helped the Swamp Rabbits remain competitive in the league. Fans and analysts alike anticipate that his veteran presence will translate into tangible success as the new season unfolds.
