The Nashville Predators announced this week that Matt Calvert has been appointed to the role of Forward Development Coach, a move that underscores the club’s commitment to holistic player growth.
A Strategic Addition to the Development Staff
Calvert will work closely with the organization’s prospects, emphasizing nutrition planning, off‑ice conditioning and performance analytics to sharpen the next generation of forwards.
His appointment follows a distinguished 11‑year NHL career in which he recorded 203 points across 566 games for the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Colorado Avalanche.
Prior to joining Nashville, Calvert served as co‑founder and director of recruitment and development at CAL Sports Management, where he helped shape talent pipelines for junior and collegiate players.
He also spent a season as a development coach with the Brandon Wheat Kings during 2021‑22, a stint that gave him hands‑on experience guiding young athletes in the WHL.
Selected by the Blue Jackets in the fifth round of the 2008 draft, Calvert reached a career‑high 26 points in the 2018‑19 season with Colorado before transitioning into coaching.
The Predators’ leadership believes his blend of on‑ice experience and off‑ice expertise will accelerate the development of their forward prospects.
