A Strategic Addition for the Hurricanes
The Carolina Hurricanes announced this week that they have reached an agreement with Russian forward Viktor Neuchev, adding the 22-year-old to their roster on a one-year, two-way contract.
Neuvev arrives after two seasons within the Buffalo Sabres organization, where he developed a reputation for relentless work ethic and a knack for generating chances in the AHL.
Contract Details
The deal guarantees Neuchev $850,000 when he is on the NHL roster, while his AHL salary will sit at $90,000, providing the club with flexibility as they assess his readiness.
General manager Don Waddell highlighted the low‑risk nature of the agreement, noting that the contract reflects confidence in the player’s upside without imposing a heavy cap hit.
A Year of Growth
Across 160 AHL games, Neuchev has recorded 28 goals and 75 points, numbers that speak to his offensive instincts and playmaking ability.
His playoff contributions last season included two goals and six points in 21 games, underscoring his capacity to perform under pressure.
If he can translate that AHL success to the NHL stage, the Hurricanes could see a noticeable lift in offensive depth, making the signing a potentially pivotal piece of their roster construction.
