Renovation Set to Transform Hand Park's Outfield
Austin Peay State University Athletics has unveiled a sweeping renovation plan for Raymond C. Hand Park, the home of the Governors baseball program. The project focuses on the outfield and includes leveling the playing surface to match the elevation of home plate, replacing the existing grass with a fresh surface, and refurbishing the outfield fence.
The irrigation system will receive a major upgrade, and the water retention zone behind the fence will be expanded. A new access road will be constructed from Farris Street to the Governors’ bullpen, improving circulation for players, staff and visitors.
Tugsun Group Inc., a regional construction firm, has been awarded the bid for the work. Construction is scheduled to begin during the third week of July and is expected to be completed by the first week of October.
University officials, including spokesperson Jordan Harmon and facilities director Roland Fanning, said the upgrades will enhance drainage, create a more consistent playing surface and support the long‑term success of the baseball program.
