Historically, Syracuse enjoys a commanding edge over both opponents. The program holds a 129‑47 record against Colgate and has not dropped a decision to the Raiders since 1975, while a 47‑24 ledger against Canisius underscores a long‑standing dominance that dates back decades.

Gerry McNamara, now in his second year at Syracuse, previously faced Canisius four times as a player and emerged victorious each time.
