Texas Tech University announced this week that its football stadium will henceforth be called Galaxy Stadium, marking the culmination of a 15‑year, $75 million naming‑rights agreement with the technology firm Galaxy.
A New Era for Red Raiders Football
The venue, formerly known as Jones AT&T Stadium, had carried the AT&T brand for two decades before the partnership expired in June, paving the way for the new arrangement.
Galaxy, a company specializing in advanced data‑center infrastructure and digital assets, will also serve as the official data‑center and digital‑assets partner for Texas Tech Athletics, a role that includes building a state‑of‑the‑art AI facility in Dickens County, about 60 miles east of Lubbock.
Kirby Hocutt, the university’s director of athletics, praised the deal as a forward‑looking partnership that not only secures financial resources but also creates new name, image and likeness (NIL) opportunities for Red Raiders athletes through brand‑activation campaigns and original content.
The agreement earmarks $5 million annually, a figure that reflects both the long‑term stability of the partnership and the strategic importance of Galaxy’s technological expertise to the athletics department.
