The Minnesota summer hockey scene is saying goodbye to a beloved institution as Da Beauty League concludes its final season after ten years of informal competition.
The final season of Da Beauty League
Founded in 2015, the league offered a laid‑back arena for NHL, minor‑league and college players to skate together on Wednesday nights at Braemar Arena in Edina, with all proceeds funneled to local charities.
This year’s lineup read like a who’s‑who of the sport, featuring names such as Jake Guentzel, Blake Boeser and veteran forward John Scott, who also serves as the league’s unofficial commissioner and whose namesake cup crowns the season’s champion.
The decision to end the league reflects a broader shift among former collegians and professionals, many of whom now prioritize family, careers and other pursuits as they move beyond their playing days.
While the final whistle blew on July 15, the legacy of Da Beauty League lives on in the community it helped build, proving that a simple summer scrimmage can leave a lasting imprint on Minnesota’s hockey culture.
