A Roster in Transition
The Iowa State Cyclones entered the 2025‑26 basketball season with a fresh infusion of talent, headlined by a backcourt that blended experience with youthful vigor, featuring Killyan Toure, Tamin Lipsey, Jamarion Batemon and Dominykas Pleta.
The optimism was tempered by injuries, most notably a labrum tear suffered by Yusef Gray Jr., who is now focused on rehabilitation while already making a positive impact during summer workouts.
Head coach T.J. Otzelberger has highlighted Gray’s defensive skills and competitiveness, suggesting the young guard could become a cornerstone of the team’s identity.
The Cyclones also added transfers Jaquan Johnson and Ryan Prather Jr., while the 2026 freshman class will be led by Dorian Rinaldo‑Komlan, the only fully healthy newcomer, as Christian Wiggins remains sidelined by an Achilles injury.
Despite the setbacks, the coaching staff remains confident that the mix of veterans, newcomers and emerging defensive talent will keep Iowa State competitive in the Big 12.
