The Red Lion Area School District has officially approved Jason Seitz as the new head coach of the girls basketball team, ushering in a fresh direction for a program that has been a dominant force in recent years.
Seitz arrives after five seasons at Eastern York High School, where his squads compiled a 73‑36 record and captured a YAIAA Division II championship, establishing him as one of the region’s most respected tacticians.
A Legacy to Follow
He will replace Don Dimoff, who retired after three decades at the helm, a tenure that left an indelible mark on the school and sparked a petition among some community members who hoped to retain the longtime coach.
While acknowledging Dimoff’s contributions, Seitz says he is eager to build on the Lions’ recent success, noting that the team enters the season as defending Division I champions and recent PIAA Class 6A quarterfinalists.
Key Players and Immediate Challenges
Seitz will work closely with returning standouts Bekah Sedora and Regan Smith, whom he believes can anchor a competitive lineup as the Lions face familiar foes such as York Suburban, Dallastown, Northeastern and South Western in upcoming division play.
Having served as an assistant under former coach Bill Novak from 2016 to 2018, Seitz brings institutional knowledge to the role and says he is committed to advancing the program’s trajectory while respecting the school’s rich basketball heritage.
