Legacy Motor Club deepens sim‑racing ties with Fanatec as it eyes playoff push

Two‑year partnership, new ambassador role and fresh sponsorships signal a strategic expansion for the Johnson‑owned team

Legacy Motor Club, the team owned by former seven‑time NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson, announced a two‑year agreement with sim‑racing hardware specialist Fanatec that will run through the 2026 and 2027 seasons. Starting next year the No. 42 entry will carry the Fanatec livery, marking the first time the brand has appeared on a full‑time NASCAR car.

Expanding the fan experience

As part of the deal, John Hunter Nemechek has been named Fanatec’s ambassador, a role in which he will represent the brand at events and help integrate the partnership with fans. Nemechek said the collaboration underscores the importance of high‑performance equipment in sim racing and expressed enthusiasm about bringing that technology to the track.

The partnership also includes activation plans that will see Fanatec set up interactive stations at NASCAR races, giving attendees a hands‑on sim‑racing experience that the company believes will deepen fan engagement.

On‑track momentum and new commercial deals

Beyond the new alliance, Legacy Motor Club is riding a wave of on‑track progress. Erik Jones, currently 16th on the playoff grid, is poised to secure a Chase berth, while Nemechek’s squad has posted two top‑five and five top‑10 finishes in the first 20 races of the season. Jones’s most recent victory came at Darlington in 2022, and the team’s momentum suggests a strong finish to the year.

The organization has also locked in fresh sponsorship agreements with Rexel, Dollar Tree and Mayer, adding to its growing commercial portfolio. In 2027 the team will field a third full‑time entry, further expanding its presence in the sport.
