Strategic Coaching Additions
USA Basketball has confirmed a new assistant coaching staff that will support head coach Erik Spoelstra as the organization prepares for the 2027 Basketball World Cup in Qatar and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
Mark Daigneault, who previously served as a video coordinator for the national team over a decade ago, returns to the fold, while J.B. Bickerstaff makes his debut with USA Basketball after a distinguished coaching career.
Mark Few, a longtime collaborator of Spoelstra and a Hall of Fame inductee next month, brings deep ties to the program and a proven track record of success.
Spoelstra expressed enthusiasm about assembling the staff early, citing the need for organization and continuity as the team builds toward the upcoming tournaments.
Grant Hill, the men’s national team managing director, highlighted the importance of a cohesive coaching unit, noting that the selected assistants share a common vision for the program’s future.
The trio of assistants will work alongside Spoelstra to ensure a seamless transition and a strong foundation for the national team’s ambitions on the world stage.
