Jay Kemble, the veteran coach of Bangor High School’s girls soccer program, announced that he will step down after three seasons that delivered three Class A North championships and two state titles.
A Legacy of Success
During his tenure, Kemble compiled a 49‑4‑1 record, highlighted by a 16‑1‑1 mark in the most recent fall campaign. His teams have been praised for their discipline, teamwork and the depth of talent that has emerged from the school’s feeder system.
Kemble cited family obligations and the need to reduce his overall coaching load as the primary reasons for his departure, noting that the dual responsibility of overseeing both the girls soccer and boys basketball programs has become increasingly untenable.
He will be succeeded by Nick Christensen, a former Husson University assistant coach who brings extensive playing experience and a deep familiarity with the student‑athletes in the Bangor area.
Christensen inherits a squad that returns eleven players from the state championship game, though All‑Americans Georgie Stephenson and Clara Oldenburg will be missing from the lineup.
