The Big Sky Scholar-Athlete Distinction
Montana State University announced its 2025‑26 Big Sky Scholar‑Athlete class, honoring two students who have excelled both in the classroom and on the field of competition.
Jed Miller, a senior guard on the Bobcats men’s basketball team, graduated with a 3.84 GPA in Business Marketing and earned First‑Team All‑Big Sky honors after averaging 14.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.6 steals per game across 32 appearances.
Miller’s contributions helped the Bobcats capture consecutive conference titles in 2022‑23 and 2023‑24, underscoring his role in the program’s recent success.
Caroline Hawkes, a track and field standout, earned a 3.89 GPA in Food and Nutrition Science while setting six school records and winning Big Sky indoor and outdoor titles in the 400‑meter dash and the 4×400 relay.
Her performances also garnered two‑time Honorable Mention All‑American recognition outdoors, cementing her legacy among the university’s all‑time greats.
The Scholar‑Athlete program, which requires a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2 and demonstrates excellence in both academics and athletics, reflects the university’s commitment to fostering well‑rounded leaders.
Both Miller and Hawkes will be celebrated during an upcoming campus ceremony, highlighting the institution’s dedication to recognizing holistic achievement.
