A Strategic Addition to the Cougars' Staff
Washington State University announced Tuesday that Kimble Schuessler will join the Cougar baseball program as an assistant coach beginning in the 2027 season. The move comes as the program prepares for its inaugural campaign in the new conference, bringing a blend of playing experience and coaching acumen to the staff.
Schuessler, a former Longhorns standout, posted a .326 career average with a .934 OPS, hitting 19 home runs and driving in 79 runs while maintaining a flawless .994 fielding percentage. He was a key member of the 2026 College World Series run, helping Texas capture the Austin Regional and the Austin Super Regional before falling to Georgia in the final.
During his lone season as a coach for the Longhorns, he helped guide the team to a 46‑15 record, overseeing outfielders, first base and the hitters’ development. His analytical approach and emphasis on toughness have already resonated with the players.

WSU head coach Nathan Choate praised Schuessler’s knowledge and toughness, stating that his presence will elevate the team’s competitive edge. Texas head coach Jim Schlossnagle called him one of the brightest young coaches he has encountered, while assistant coach Troy Tulowitzki highlighted his unmatched passion and work ethic.
