The University of North Dakota’s hockey program continues to blend on‑ice competitiveness with academic distinction, as evidenced by the recent announcement of its students’ placement on the National Collegiate Hockey Conference Honor Roll.
Academic Benchmarks Set by the NCHC
To qualify for the Honor Roll, a skater must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 and complete a full academic year at the institution. This season, 22 members of the Fighting Hawks roster met that standard.
Among them, 15 earned the more selective NCHC Distinguished Scholar‑Athlete honor, a designation reserved for those who achieve a 3.5 GPA or higher after completing a full year of study.
Four‑Year Streaks Highlighted
Veteran forwards Dylan James and Ben Strinden each added another chapter to their academic résumés by securing the Distinguished Scholar‑Athlete award for the fourth consecutive year, underscoring a sustained commitment to scholarship.
The recognition also extended to newcomers Gavin Lindberg and Brasen Boser, who transferred into the program and were similarly acknowledged for their scholarly performance at previous institutions.
