The Washington Capitals have released their 2026‑27 NHL regular‑season schedule, setting the stage for a campaign that opens on Oct. 2 with a road test against the Carolina Hurricanes.
A week later the team will travel to Tampa Bay before returning to Capital One Arena for their home opener on Oct. 7 against the Pittsburgh Penguins, a matchup that pits Alex Ovechkin’s veterans against a young Penguins squad.
The schedule is punctuated by five homestands of at least three games, the longest stretching from Oct. 14 to 28 and again in February, while the club will also endure five stretches of three or more consecutive road games, highlighted by a six‑game trip from Dec. 3 to 15.
Holiday fixtures include a Super Bowl Sunday showdown on Feb. 14 against the Utah Mammoth, and the team will enjoy a nine‑day pause for the 2027 NHL All‑Star Weekend beginning Feb. 4.
Broadcast details will be announced later, but fans can listen to every game on the Capitals Radio Network, 106.7 The Fan, and via the Washington Caps mobile app, while ticket purchases are currently available through Ticketmaster and Capital One.
Key home dates feature showdowns with Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins, Jack Hughes and the New Jersey Devils, and Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers, as well as contests against Nathan MacKinnon’s Colorado Avalanche and Connor Bedard’s Chicago Blackhawks.
Star‑studded home slate
The Capitals will also host the defending Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes on Jan. 14, and later in March they meet the Tampa Bay Lightning in a Monday afternoon matinee, adding to a calendar that blends tradition with fresh rivalries.
With 19 of 42 home games falling on weekends, the team aims to capitalize on fan energy, while the full season‑ticket membership and partial plans are already on sale, encouraging supporters to secure seats directly through the team’s official channels.
