Ricky Davey has been appointed as the new head coach of the Campbell University men’s soccer program, taking the helm of a team poised for a fresh start in the competitive NCAA Division I landscape.
Davey arrives after a twelve‑year journey through collegiate ranks, most recently serving as associate head coach at Mercer where he contributed to a surge of recognition, including eleven All‑SoCon honors over the past two seasons.
A Vision for the Future
President William Downs and Director of Athletics Hannah Bazemore voiced strong confidence in Davey’s leadership, citing his relentless appetite for winning and his ability to blend athletic ambition with academic integrity.
In his introductory remarks, Davey expressed gratitude for the opportunity, emphasizing his desire to cultivate a culture of togetherness and determination, and to guide student‑athletes toward success both on the field and in the classroom.
His coaching résumé includes stints with the Atlanta United Academy, where he guided the MLS Next Under‑14 side to two championships and a Patterson Cup, as well as roles at Georgia State, Francis Marion, and Alabama Huntsville, where he helped secure conference double titles and earned multiple coaching certifications.
Davey will be joined in Buies Creek by his wife Marianna and son Mills, underscoring the personal support system that he hopes will translate into a collective drive for the program.
